We've made a ton of progress in the last few weeks. Here's a quick rundown of everything that's changed in Airplane.

SOC 2 Compliance

We're now SOC 2 compliant! We're proud to announce that we successfully achieved compliance and received an Auditor’s Report demonstrating that our policies, procedures, and infrastructure meet or exceed the SOC 2 criteria. Learn more here.

Select Options (aka "Dropdowns")

You can now create dropdown fields that have a limited set of options. This works  by taking one of the existing input types (e.g. short text, integer, etc) and specifying the allowed options for that field. More details in docs.

Runbooks (beta)

Airplane now supports the ability to build multi-step operations through Runbooks. You can take multiple tasks, SQL queries, REST calls, and more and chain them together into Runbooks. An example might be a user deletion runbook that first deactivates the user in your production database, then calls the Intercom API to unsubscribe them from emails, then calls the Stripe API to pause their billing, runs a bulk delete Python script that deletes all of their historical data, and then finally sends an email to the user letting them know that they've been deleted.

This feature is in beta and we haven't turned it on for all accounts. If you'd like access, let us know at [email protected].

Shell and Ruby Support (beta)

You can now use a Shell script to create an Airplane Task. It's still in beta but you can try it out by clicking "Create Task" and choosing Shell:

Ruby support is also in beta, but we haven't yet turned it on for all accounts. If you'd like access, let us know at [email protected].

Pricing

Airplane has been free while in early access, but we're going to start charging for the product soon. Here's how it will work:

  • Airplane will continue to be free up to 5 tasks and 5 users, which in our experience covers what most small startups need, and allows larger teams to test out the product a significant amount
  • $10/user/month up to 30 users and 30 tasks, which is sufficient for most <100 person startups
  • Custom pricing beyond that

See our detailed pricing plans here.

For customers whose usage of Airplane qualifies for one of the paid plans, we'll be reaching out in the coming weeks. If this pricing plan doesn't work for you, please let us know! As a thank you for trying out Airplane early, we're happy to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs. You can contact us at [email protected] to discuss pricing.
