We're building Airplane to let you transform scripts, APIs, and SQL queries into UIs and workflows for your team in minutes. Last month, we shipped new features like service accounts to make building with Airplane faster and easier.
Airplane Launch Week
This month, we are hosting our first-ever launch week from October 30 to November 3! Each day we’ll be announcing new features and improvements that make building in Airplane easier, faster, and more secure. So stay tuned and be sure to check our launch week page starting on October 30 to be the first to know about our game-changing updates!
Service accounts
We’ve now introduced service accounts in Airplane. A service account is a non-human user that can be used to interact with Airplane. Just like regular users, service accounts can be assigned permissions which they can use to execute tasks, interact with the Airplane API, kick off deployments, and more.

Improvements and fixes
- Pod patches - Self-hosted Airplane now supports applying arbitrary patches to the agent runner pods’ Kubernetes configurations. These patches are applied to the associated pod specs via the strategic merge algorithm described in the Kubernetes docs. For more information, check out the pod patches docs.
- Self-hosted inputs and uploads - Self-hosted storage now supports inputs in addition to outputs. Self-hosting your input data (e.g., task run parameters, file uploads, etc.) ensures that it remains in your environment and does not transit through Airplane’s systems. Check out the self-hosted inputs docs to learn more.
**--team
flag in CLI -** The Airplane CLI now supports a--team [slug]
flag that allows you to switch which team is used for a given command.
